MSD Architecture

The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning is a vibrant community of staff and students whose interest and expertise focuses on the built environment.

We established one of the first Bachelor degrees in Architecture in 1927 and now educate the full range of built environment professionals. We have a lively culture of exploration manifested in many forms, from classroom and studio to research enquiry, complemented by lectures, forums and exhibitions. Our cultural diversity is one of our strengths: students and staff have come to Melbourne from over 50 countries. We have a strong alumni body who hold leadership roles across Australia and the world.

Architecture today is the product of many disciplines, which is reflected in the diversity of choice at the Melbourne School of Design (MSD). Urban design, planning, cost management, engineering, environmental design, materials science, product development, construction, landscape, art and the social sciences overlap to inform what we do as Architects.
